Professional AC Replacement in Houston, TX
Morrow Mechanical has been providing homeowners throughout the Houston TX area with outstanding A/C replacement services for the last 20 years. It doesn't always make a lot of sense to make repairs to a broken unit. Repairs can sometimes be more expensive than the cost of a new unit or the system may be so damaged that repairs are simply not possible. In such cases, it might be time to look into A/C replacement. Our expert technicians can help you understand your options, help you select the best A/C system for your home, and quickly and effectively install your replacement system. We stand behind all of our work with extensive, industry-leading warranties, including up to 10 years on parts and labor.
First step is a personal consultation with one of our equipment specialists or technicians to review the scope of the work that is needed to replace your home comfort system. Our specialist will discuss any discrepancies or inefficiencies in your current system and ensure the correct size for your home. Once the inspection is complete, you will be presented with all possible solutions, pricing, available financing, and warranty information. A professional evaluation of your home will ensure that you are purchasing the right equipment and that it will perform safely and efficiently long term.
Making the right decision
When it comes to buying a new air conditioning and heating system there are many questions that should be considered and asked. Far too many people make the wrong choice due to lack of information or get pressured into making a certain purchase. Never just settle for anything because in the end when you make assumptions or leave it up to chance, you will never be happy with your purchase. Here are some costly mistakes that you should avoid.
HOW TO BUY THE RIGHT SIZE EQUIPMENT FOR YOUR HOME
Why is it important to have the right size equipment for your home? This is a question that we get a lot from our clients. Many people including some inexperienced contractors think bigger is better. This type of thinking is scary and can result in high utility bills, high humidity making your home uncomfortable and a buildup of unhealthy mold and mildew in your air delivery system. A correctly sized system will have none of these. We perform a system analysis and take into account the physical characteristics of your home and you and your family’s personal needs to help in determining the correct size.
How to pick TRUSTWORTHY AND QUALIFIED CONTRACTORS
A simple google search in your area will probably bring up over 100 different air conditioning contractors. Who do you trust to enter your home and are they qualified to work on your system. Out of the 100 different companies in your area only a handful have been in business more than 5 years, are recognized by the Better Business Bureau and have the proper insurance to protect you if someone gets hurt on your property. When you finally select a contractor to install your system you hope that if there is ever a problem with it they will be able to fix your system quickly. Unfortunately even fewer companies of that 100 listed has more than a few employees limiting their ability to take care of their customers after the system is installed.
the lowest price is not always the best solution
My grandfather always had a great saying for any situation and I have used much of his wisdom throughout my life. Two saying he used to say are true in this situation. I think we both agree that like everything in life, “you can’t get something for nothing” and “if it sounds too good to be true it isn’t”. So if you are leaning toward the company with the lowest price, ask yourself these questions. What shortcuts are they taking? What’s being left out? What is it that I think I’m getting but I’m actually not? Heating and air conditioning equipment in the Houston environment should last 10-15 years. Over the past couple of years, we have replaced many systems less than 10 years old due to poor workmanship and faulty installation.
understanding the "seer" rating
This is a commonly used abbreviation to denote how energy efficient a unit or system will operate. The higher the “SEER” the more money you save on your utility bill. While “SEER” is a factor when purchasing a system there is much more to consider. For instances, will this high SEER system remove Humidity from my home? That depends on how the system was installed and if all the components were properly sized for your home. We have seen many systems that were installed that have a high SEER rating but unfortunately remove little humidity from the home. This is due to the evaporator coil being too large for the home. This would be fine if we lived in Arizona where there is no humidity but this is Houston were half the year we live in a very hot and humid climate.
Many times inexperienced contractors just want to swap boxes and not look at what the home needs and what the customer really wants for their family. The proper way is to design custom solutions for each customer. This takes Knowledge of equipment and experience in design and installation of the various different options that are available. We have installed over 2,500 systems in our client’s homes ranging from the most economical style systems to the most sophisticated systems on the market.
